Gardaí are investigating a fire that occurred at St Catherine’s Church on Meath Street.
Garda where called to the site at 4:45pm.
The fire is believed to have been started by a man in his 50′s he was arrested as soon as the emergency services arrived on scene and is now in custody at Kevin Street Garda Station
The fire has been contained and no injuries have occurred, the street has been closed pending a technical examination.

An man by the name of Patrick Currie has been charged with the crime for the damage caused to the building he will be remanded in custody at Clover Hill Prison and will undergo psychiatric assessment before appearing in court again next Tuesday.
