The bench dedicated to the memory of Gerry Ryan in Herbert Park was set alight by vandals last night.
A plaque was also stolen.
The bench was erected in Ryan’s memory by his partner at the time of his death, Melanie Verwoerd.
The quote on the plaque read: ”For Gerry, seasons may change winter to spring, but I love you till the end of time. Melanie.”
It is hoped that CCTV from the Herbert Park Hotel may help gardaí carrying out an investigation into the vandalism.
