Gone are the days when you can leave your front door unlocked and keys in the door, with today's crime rate everyone is very conscious of home security so I will be giving pointers and today I will be covering the main entrance to the home and the first point of contact for the opportunistic burglar.

Locks: Anti bump cylinders are the standard for today's door lock system, with this type of lock the burglar will not be able to gain access to your home using a bump key, the bump key is just a standard key cut a certain way so it allows the intruder to put a key in the lock and manipulate it to open with out using any type of drill or sophisticated equipment. See the bump key in action below it is very scary considering you may only have one lock on your door

Door Chain: A lot of people probably haven't seen one of these in a long time but they provide an added bit of resistance to a possible intruder at your front door, giving you vital seconds to get your door closed or to alert another person in your home.

Peephole: By installing a peephole this will allow you to see who's outside before you greet them, giving you time to asses the situation, you should look in to a wide angle lens so you can see as much as possible.

If you have more information let us know and we will add it to the list.

We will be updating this list with as much information as possible as we go along.
