Fatal stabbing in Kilkenny

A 21-year-old man has died following a stabbing in Kilkenny city.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which occurred in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said they were called to an apartment in Larchfield Court in the city shortly before 1.30 am this morning, where they discovered two men with stab wounds.

Both men were taken to St Luke’s hospital where the unnamed 21-year-old subsequently died.

The other man, 27, remains in hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third man who was in the apartment when gardaí arrived was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station where he was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Three arrested in Swords for possession of a handgun

Three men were arrested today after gardaí stopped two cars in north Dublin and seized a handgun and ammunition.

Gardaí on mobile patrol near Dublin Airport stopped and searched the cars on the Swords Road shortly before 1.30 pm this afternoon.

All three occupants of the cars, one 33-year-old and two aged 35, were arrested.

They are being detained at Ballymun and Santry Garda Stations under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

Missing teenager – Rebecca Crawford

Gardaí at Mountjoy Garda Station are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 16-year-old Rebecca Crawford who was last seen on the 9th February 2012.

Rebecca is described as being 5’72, slim build with long brown hair and blue eyes.  When last seen she was wearing a ¾ length leopard fur jacket with a hood, very distinctive light blue jeans and white boots.

Missing person – Pauline Behan

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 62-year-old Pauline Behan from Rafters Road, Dublin 12.

Pauline was last seen at 4 pm today.  She is described as being 5’5″, of medium build with short blonde hair.  When last seen Pauline was wearing a black padded jacket, blue jeans and brown boots.

Missing teenager – Michelle Doyle

Gardaí at Lucan Garda Station are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 16-year-old Michelle Doyle from Moyglass Road, Lucan.  Doyle was last seen on the 8th of February 2012.

When last seen she was wearing a black zipped hooded top, light blue denim jeans and white running shoes.  She is described as 5’8″ in height of slight build with blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair.

Sandra Collins – Missing since December 4, 2000

Hair: Short brown with red highlights

Build: Slim build

Sandra Collins, who was 28 at the time of her disappearance, went missing on her way home from a takeaway, The Country Kitchen, in the George’s Street area of Killala, Mayo.

When last seen Sandra was wearing black trousers, a maroon polo neck jumper, a beige sleeveless jacket with a hood and black boots.

Murder suicide in Roscommon

A man who killed a mother of two in Grangemockler, County Roscommon yesterday has been identified as Robert Hartrey.

Hartrey, 45, an unemployed construction worker and father of three, shot and killed Sarah Regan, 30, before turning the gun on himself.

Hartrey, who used a borrowed gun, left Grangemockler with a family friend so he could meet Sarah to pick up some of his belongings after a recent break up after being in a relationship with Sarah for the past two years.

Robert left his friend at a pub and said he would be back in half an hour, Robert never returned.

Renewed appeal for missing student Paul Bunbury

Gardaí in Whitehall are re-appealing to the public for assistance in locating 19-year-old Paul Bunbury.

Bunbury’s last known sighting was in the area of the O2 Arena at 6.20 pm on the 2nd of February.

He is described as being 5’10” in height with brown eyes, long brown hair, of thin build and having a beard.  When last seen he was wearing a grey casual jacket, blue jeans and a blue t- shirt.
