A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the death of Siobhán Stapleton.
Stapleton, 51, was found with serious head injuries last Friday, May 25, in the farmyard of her home in Kilfane, Thomastown, Kilkenny.
She was rushed to hospital in Kilkenny city some 11 miles away, but was pronounced dead before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital Dublin.
Gardaí have set up an incident room in Thomastown Garda Station and have said that they are following a definite line of inquiry.
The community in the rural area of Kilfane are in shock at the death of the mother of four daughters and one son.
Locals described Siobhan and her husband, Peter, as a loving couple who are well known in the area and who involved themselves in community activities.
The man was arrested in the Thomastown area and is being detained at Thomastown Garda Station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 as amended.
