Two arrested in connection with murder of Melanie McCarthy

A man in his 20s and a teenager have been arrested in relation to the killing of 16-year-old Melanie McCarthy in Tallaght.

The two men were arrested in Athy, County Kildare this afternoon following an operation led by the National Bureau of Criminal investigation.

The two men are being held in Tallaght Garda Station.

Missing teenager – Patrick Cummins Hennessey

Gardaí at Gurranabraher in County Cork are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 17-year-old Patrick Cummins Hennessey from Rockchapel, County Kerry.

Cummins Hennessy was last seen at Innishannon Road, Cork at approximately 11.30 am on Monday the 13th of February 2012.

He is described as being 5’9″, of medium build with brown hair.  When last seen Patrick was wearing a black jumper, grey tracksuit pants and black and white runners.

240 kilos of cannabis resin seized in Dundalk

Cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €1.44 million has been seized in Dundalk.

Following an ongoing operation by Gardaí attached to the Dundalk Drug Unit assisted by the Garda National Drug Unit stopped a van at Martin’s Cross Dundalk this afternoon.

One man in his 30s has been arrested and is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dundalk Garda station.

 

 

Fatal stabbing in Kilkenny

A 21-year-old man has died following a stabbing in Kilkenny city.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which occurred in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said they were called to an apartment in Larchfield Court in the city shortly before 1.30 am this morning, where they discovered two men with stab wounds.

Both men were taken to St Luke’s hospital where the unnamed 21-year-old subsequently died.

The other man, 27, remains in hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third man who was in the apartment when gardaí arrived was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station where he was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Three arrested in Swords for possession of a handgun

Three men were arrested today after gardaí stopped two cars in north Dublin and seized a handgun and ammunition.

Gardaí on mobile patrol near Dublin Airport stopped and searched the cars on the Swords Road shortly before 1.30 pm this afternoon.

All three occupants of the cars, one 33-year-old and two aged 35, were arrested.

They are being detained at Ballymun and Santry Garda Stations under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

Missing teenager – Rebecca Crawford

Gardaí at Mountjoy Garda Station are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 16-year-old Rebecca Crawford who was last seen on the 9th February 2012.

Rebecca is described as being 5’72, slim build with long brown hair and blue eyes.  When last seen she was wearing a ¾ length leopard fur jacket with a hood, very distinctive light blue jeans and white boots.
