Carlow Gardaí Seek Witnesses to Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Gardaí in Carlow are requesting the public’s assistance following a deadly road traffic incident that occurred in County Carlow on the night of Wednesday, April 24th, 2024.

The incident, which involved a collision between a motorcycle and a car, happened just before 11 PM on a local road between Rathoe and Ballon at Sandbook. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The car was found burnt out nearby, and its occupants had fled the scene.

The site has been preserved for a comprehensive forensic and technical examination. The road is currently closed, and relevant authorities including the local Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted.

As investigations continue under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer and an incident room at Carlow Garda Station, Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who was in the area between 10:00 PM and midnight on April 24th. Specifically, they are requesting that any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) come forward.
