38 million cigarettes seized in Dublin Port
Customs officers have seized 38 million cigarettes with a retail value of €14.7 million in Dublin Port.
The Golden Eagiie brand cigarettes were smuggled into the country in four 40-foot maritime containers and originated in Vietnam. They arrived into Dublin port via Rotterdam.
Each container held 9.5 millions cigarettes.
Several people were interviewed and a premises was searched under warrant.
Documents seized as part of the investigation are currently being examined.
Investigations are ongoing nationally and internationally.
