Two arrested after throwing bomb out car window in front of gardaí

A man and woman were arrested last night when they threw a bomb from their car after being stopped by the gardaí.

The incident occured on the Killiney Road, Dublin 24 at about 10.15 pm.

The man and woman, both in their 20s, were arrested at the scene.

The scene was sealed off and an army EOD team were requested.

The device was made safe by the EOD team at 11.30 pm.

It was removed intact by the EOD team to Cathal Brugha Barracks for examination.

The device will be examined by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The arrested man is detained at Crumlin and the woman at Sundrive Garda Stations. Both are detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act, 1939.
