Gardaí have seized a large quantity of drugs and arrested a man in an operation in Tramore, Co. Waterford yesterday 18th January 2019.
In a planned operation Garda from Tramore Garda Station, assisted by the Regional Armed Support Unit, searched a premises at Riverstown Business Park in Tramore. They discovered a large cannabis cultivation operation, with up to 450 plants growing in the building. The seizure has an estimated street value of €360,000.
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is detained at Tramore Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Investigations have begun after the fatal shooting of Swords local Zach Parker last night, January 17, 2019.
A media brief was held today regarding the death of the 23 year old at Applewood Close in Swords, Co. Dublin and Gardai are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
At approximately 7:30pm a lone male approached and fired a number of shots at a slow moving car as it was driven from Applewood Close onto Jugback Lane. The driver of the car, Zach Parker from Swords, was fatally injured. His passenger, a 25-year-old man also from the Swords area, was seriously injured and taken by Ambulance to Beaumont Hospital. The gunman left the scene on foot onto Jugback Lane in the direction of Balheary Road.
The body of the deceased has been removed to the City Morgue, Whitehall where a post-mortem examination will be conducted later today by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster. The passenger remains in Beaumont Hospital where his condition is understood to be stable. Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are examining a number of crime scenes linked with the investigation and an incident room has been established at Swords Garda Station.
Speaking from the crime scene this afternoon Superintendent Gerard Donnelly said; – “My appeal is for witnesses who may have been in the Applewood area between 6:30pm and 8:00pm last night, particularly those around the Gym Plus premises, Applewood Close, Jugback Lane and the Balheary Road area of Swords and to any motorists with dash-cam footage to make it available.”
The Superintendent also said; – “The gunman described as tall, of athletic build and wearing a black hoodie top with a black scarf covering his face, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with white soles. It’s understood he was carrying a grey or light coloured rucksack that may have concealed the firearm. No arrests have been made to date and enquiries are ongoing. Further updates will follow.
An Indian student studying at a university in Dublin has fallen to his death while taking a selfie at the Cliffs of Moher.
The incident is reported to have occurred at 3:15pm Friday 4th of January.
The Irish Coastguard helicopter attended the incident and was transported to University Hospital Limerick for formal identification.
Gardaí are currently investigating the incident.
Gardaí wish to seek the public’s help in tracing the whereabouts of 16 year old Leon Wilson who has been missing from his home in Dublin 1 since 1st of January 2019 at 12am.
Leon is described as 5′ 7″, slim build, with fair hair and blue eyes. When last seen Leon was wearing a black tracksuit, khaki colour jacket and green runners. Leon is known to frequent Dublin City Centre, Cork Street and the Teresa’s Garden areas.

Crumlin based criminal arrested in relation to a rape allegation in Dublin city that occurred at 10:50pm on June 18th.
The independent has reported that this is a well known criminal who was previously on the run for 13 days in June 2018
The alleged victim is reported to have jumped off a balcony of a flat in the Cork Street area to escape the brutal attack.
The alleged victim was taken to the the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the Rotunda Hospital.
The suspect is currently serving a prison sentence in Cloverhill Prison and is being investigated by detective gardai.
Gardaí in Pearse Street arrested three men yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 18th December, 2018 as part of an initiative to combat theft in the city centre.
The three men (43, 33 & 19 years) were arrested on Dame Court after attempting to steal a wallet from a member of the public. They were taken to Pearse Street Garda Station and have been charged in relation to a number of theft and fraud offences. All three will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 3, this morning Wednesday 19th December, 2018 at 10.30a.m.
During the course of the arrests a number of phones were seized and Gardaí are hoping to return these phones to their owners.
Two men have been charged following the discovery of a suspected explosive device in Navan, Co. Meath shortly after midnight on 17th December, 2018.
At about 12.05am Gardaí on routine patrol stopped a van at Brews Hill, Navan, Co. Meath. Following a search of the van they discovered a suspected explosive device. The two occupants of the van a man in his 50s and a man in his late 20s were arrested and were detained at Navan Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
An Army EOD team was called and a controlled explosion was carried out on the device which they described as viable.
The two men are due to appear at Meath District Court this morning, Wednesday 19th December, 2018 at 10.30a.m. charged in relation to the incident.
Caelob O’Neill 19 years who was missing from Stradbally, County Laois has been located safe and well.
Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 19 year old Caelob O’Neill missing from Stradbally, County Laois since Monday 5th September 2016.
Caelob was last seen at the Charlie Chaplin Campsite, Electric Picnic on Monday morning 5th September 2016 shortly after 9am. Caelob is described as being 5’10” in height, of medium build with short brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen Caelob was wearing a black jacket, dark navy bottoms, a multi coloured t shirt, Dunlop wellingtons and light coloured waterproofs.

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 17 year old Paul Long, missing from his home on Colepark Road, Ballyfermot since Sunday evening 1st May, 2016.
Paul was last seen when he left his home on Sunday evening at about 7p.m. 1st May, 2016. Paul is described as being 6ft 1′ in height, medium build, blue eyes and blonde hair cut short. When last seen he was wearing a black north face jacket with black track suit bottoms and yellow adiddas runners.

A man, 32 years, discovered at an apartment complex on Upper High Street, Killarney, County Kerry on Sunday 6th of March 2016 with serious injuries, was pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital this afternoon, Thursday 10th March 2016.
Gardaí also discovered the body of an 11-month-old baby boy after being called to an incident at the apartment complex on the 6th March 2016. The baby was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but pronounced dead a short time later. The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr. Bolster, carried out a preliminary examination at the scene.
An incident room has been established at Killarney Garda Station and a Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in the case. Members from the Garda Technical Bureau examined the scene.
