Man arrested in connection with stabbing in Cork

A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with a stabbing incident in Cork on Friday.

Peter Jackson of KerryHall Road, Fairhill, was charged with assault causing serious harm to David Hamilton at the same address on May 4.

At a special sitting of Cork District Court today, gardaí gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

Judge Olann Kelleher granted the application to have Mr Jackson remanded in custody, to appear in court again next Thursday.

The victim, who is in a critical condition, was found unconscious on the roadside at Kerryhall Road in Fairhill at around 2.30 pm on Friday.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital.

This was the second stabbing incident in Cork city in fewer than 48 hours.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Kerryhill Road area between 2 pm and 2.45 pm on Friday to contact them.
