Shooting at Bray Boxing Club

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting in Bray this morning have named the deceased male as 50 year old Robert Messett.

Gardai wish to trace the movements of the silver coloured Volkswagen Caddy van with Northern Irish registration used in the shooting. It is believed that this van travelled from Bray through Shankill and the Cornelscourt area before being abandoned on Pigeon House Road at approximately 8.05am where a male was seen leaving the van and cycling away.

Gardai wish to appeal:
– to anyone who witnessed the movements of this van along the route travelled between 7am and 8am this morning
– to anyone with Dash Cam footage along this route between 7am and 8am
– to anyone who witnessed the male cycling away from Pigeon House Road at approximately 8.05am

Gardaí can confirm that one man aged 30 years has died following a shooting incident in Bray, Co. Wicklow this morning 5th June 2018. The body of the deceased remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and a technical examination of the area is being carried out by Garda Crime Scene Examiners.

Two other men, aged 35 and 57, who were injured in the incident have been taken to hospital.

Following examination of CCTV in the area, we now wish to appeal for information for a silver coloured Volkswagen Caddy with Northern Irish plates. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.

Gardaí are at the scene of a shooting incident at Bray Boxing Club in The Harbour, Bray, Co. Wicklow.

The incident happened at about 6.55am and three men are believed to have been seriously injured.

The suspect left the scene in a white or silver van, possibly Ford make with British number plates.
