Kerry Assault UPDATE – Man in 20s Appearing in Court Today

A man in his 20s who was arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal assault that occurred in Killorglin on the 10/02/19 is scheduled to appear before Killarney District Court this morning at 10.30am charged in connection with the death.

The post-mortem examination has been completed and details are not being released for operational reasons. The family of the deceased are asking for privacy at this time.

Story Update:

A 32-year-old man has died following an alleged assault incident at the Square Killorglin in the early hours on Sunday morning (10/2/2019). He was pronounced dead at University Hospital Kerry earlier today (11/2/2019).

The local Coroner and office of the State Pathologist have been notified. A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out tomorrow. Investigating Gardaí say the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation and are renewing their appealing for witnesses.

Gardaí are particularly appealing to those who were in the vicinity of the The Square, Killorglin in the early hours of Sunday morning to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda station on (064) 6671160, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

UPDATE: Court Appearance in Connection with Co. Longford Drug Seizure

A man is due to appear at Mullingar District Court today in connection with a drug seizure in Co. Longford yesterday. 

Original Story:

As part of an intelligence led operation targeting a west Dublin organised crime gang Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force stopped a vehicle in Edgeworthstown Co Longford yesterday, Thursday 7th February 2019.

During the course of a search of the vehicle Cannabis Herb (subject to analysis) was seized with an estimated street value of €200,000. A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and detained at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are continuing.

UPDATE: 2 Arrested Charged in Wexford P.O. Robbery

The two men, aged in their 20s, have been charged in relation to this incident. They are due to appear before Gorey district court on 06/02/2019 at 10:30am.

Original Story:

Gardaí investigating an armed robbery at Post Office in Bridgetown, Co. Wexford, have arrested two men. 

On 04/02/2019 at approximately 10:30am two men entered the Post Office, one armed with a knife and the other with an iron bar, dressed in high viz clothing and motorcycle helmets. They demanded cash and threatened staff before leaving the premises with an undisclosed amount of cash. They left the scene in a black car.

Later that afternoon Gardaí arrested two men, both aged in their 20s, in relation to this incident. They are both currently detained in Wexford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
